Here are screenshots to walk you through the set up for several FTP clients.

WS_FTP

Type a name for your site folder here:
Type your username & password here:
Click FINISH and you will see this screen. Choose the folder you just created and click OK to connect to your web server:
You should see two windows like this - left side is your computer, right side is the web server:

Browse to the file you want to transfer on the left side, highlight the file and clcik on the right-pointing arrow to transfer the file.

SmartFTP

Type the ftp address in the address space, your username in login space & password in Password space.

Click the connect icon (firat icon on left - above Address)
After connecting you should see the Local Browser (your computer) window & the FTP window.

Browse to and highlight the file to transfer and drag it from the Local Browser to the FTP window.

 

CuteFTP

Type a name for your connection here:
Enter the FTP Address here :
Enter the username and password here:
Click FINISH to connect to the web server:
Browse to the file to transfer on the left (your computer) and drag it to the right (the web server):
